Any amount helps out a lot. Mahalo. Okay, Captain.

I think everyone’s on board and ready to go.

All right, men, raise the anchor. Let’s set sail for Exotic Tiki Island.

Just to think we fell in love.

Captain, it looks like there’s some dark clouds developing up ahead. I thought we were supposed to have perfect weather conditions for our trip. Hmm, the forecast didn’t call for any storms.

I’ll turn on the radio and see if there have been any weather updates.

Thanks.

Hopefully we’ll hear the weather forecast after this next song.

I’m going to change the channel and see if we can get any updates.

And there still is no word on the fate of the passengers and crew who are aboard the small sightseeing boat, the SS Minnow, when she sailed last Tuesday from Honolulu Harbor for a three-hour island cruise. The crew consisted of a young first mate named Gilligan. His skipper, Jonas Grumby, is an old salt in these waters.

The passenger list included one of the world’s wealthiest men, billionaire Thurston Howell III, and his socially prominent wife, the international hostess, Lovey Howell. Also aboard the missing boat were Miss Mary Ann Summers of Winfield, Kansas, and Miss Ginger Grant of Hollywood. Mary Ann Summers, an attractive young brunette, is employed at the Winfield General Store.

Glamorous Ginger Grant, according to friends, boarded the boat after a nightclub singing engagement, still wearing the evening dress from her last performance. The final member of the missing group was Professor Roy Hinckley, research scientist and well-known scout master. Hope for their survival grows dim.

Did you hear that, Captain? They still haven’t found the SS Minnow or her passengers.

What a shame.

I’ve been thinking about them all week. You know, they say the storm came up on them out of nowhere and totally took them by surprise.

Yeah, kinda like the one that’s approaching us now, Tiki Brian.

You better tell our Tiki friends to brace themselves.

There’s no way we can outrun this storm.

We’re gonna have to ride it out.

Wow, the sea is really getting rough. Listen up, friends. I’m afraid we’re in for some bad weather.

Now don’t worry. With Captain Scotty B navigating, we’re all in good hands. It’s getting pretty bad.

Everybody hang on tight.

The weather started getting rough, and the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, Captain Scotty B, Tiki Brian, and his friends would be lost. As the unexpected storm continued to unleash its fury on the small boat, all that anyone could do is batten down the hatches and hope for the best.

The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle. By the luck of the Tiki gods, Captain Scotty B, Tiki Brian, and their friends have somehow weathered the storm and have made it to a beach of an uncharted isle somewhere in the South Pacific.

Is everybody okay?

Tiki Brian, are you all right? Yeah, I think we’re all okay. A little shaken up, but we’re okay.

Where are we, Captain?

According to my calculations, we have landed on an uncharted island about 150 miles south of Exotic Tiki Island. And by the looks of our wrecked boat, we’re going to be here a while.

I’m sure Island Base has already sent out a search plane to look for us. I just hope they find us.

Tiki Brian, let’s listen to the radio and see if there has been any mention of us being lost in the storm. Good idea. We interrupt this program to bring you a special news bulletin.

A group of castaways were spotted on a small island a short time ago by a Navy weather plane. In the event the castaways can hear this broadcast, let me assure them that a Navy destroyer has been dispatched to the area pinpointed by the plane.

We now return you to our regular program.

We’re getting rescued everyone. That’s great news, but I still can’t help but think how horrible it must have been for the passengers of the SS Minnow. They apparently weren’t as lucky as we are.

By my calculations, the Navy destroyer won’t be here for another three days or so. So we’re gonna have to spend a few nights here on this deserted island. Well, if we’re gonna be here for a while, we should make our way inland and find some food and a place to camp.

You know, this turned out to be kind of exciting. Exploring an uncharted isle?

Who knows what we’ll find?

Let’s go exploring.

Tiki Brian and his friends continue making their way inland to set up camp on this uncharted island.

I see a clearing up ahead that’ll make a perfect campsite. Let’s go, friends.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the same uncharted island where Tiki Brian and his friends are, the crew of the SS Minnow that was thought to have been lost at sea is trying to plan their own rescue. They’re making a raft out of bamboo in hopes that the skipper and Gilligan can float out to sea and into a shipping lane where they can be rescued. Neither Tiki Brian and his friends or the crew of the SS Minnow realize that they are all on the same island, but that will soon change.

Skipper, you and Gilligan have got to give up this crazy scheme. Professor, there is nothing crazy about trying to reach civilization in order to bring back help. On the type of raft you’re building, it’s scientifically impossible.

You haven’t got a chance.

We haven’t?

Absolutely not. Gilligan. Without the proper materials, you can’t possibly survive the wind, the waves, the coral reefs, not to mention the sharks.

Gilligan, the entire adventure is suicidal.

Skipper, maybe the professor’s right. Maybe he’s got something there. I mean, it’s a nice little island.

Why don’t we stick around for a little while?

As the Skipper and Gilligan continue to work on their bamboo raft, the Professor finds some interesting objects in one of the nearby caves.

Skipper! What is it, Professor? Skipper, look at these.

I found them in one of the caves. Uh-oh. Gilligan, do you know what these are?

No. But if they taste as good as the putty, I’ll have them for dessert. That’s like a Native era to me.

Look at this ceremonial mask.

Looks very much like the work of the Savage Marubi tribe. Oh, Professor, we have been all over this island. There are no Natives on it.

Now, what is it you’re driving at? First, the Marubi still exist as a tribe. Second, they may very well be on one of the nearby islands.

Third, you and your raft might land on one of those islands. Fourth, maybe we shouldn’t go. Ah, Gilligan, it is our duty.

When this raft is ready, we are going to shove off. Professor, those Savage Marubi, what do they do? They’re collectors, Gilligan.

Oh, that doesn’t sound too bad.

What do they collect?

Collect heads.

As Tiki Brian and his friends are setting up camp on the other side of the island, the Skipper and Gilligan have finished making their bamboo raft and are ready to float out to sea in hopes of being rescued. The rest of the Castaways have gathered around to see them off, and they’ve placed tropical laze around the Skipper and Gilligan’s neck for good luck.

Well, folks, it looks like Gilligan and I are ready to shove off. Wait, these are for you. They’ll bring you luck.

Wow, very nice, ladies. Just wonderful. Just about all I can say is aloha nui oi.

That’s a way in for till we meet again.

I learned a little Hawaiian when I was singing in a club in Waikiki, wahini wiki huki lukinu. And every word of it comes from the bottom of my heart.

Gee, that’s real nice, Ginger.

What does it mean? This bar is off limits to all military personnel. It looks like we’re ready to shove off.

Did you pull in the anchor?

The skipper and Gilligan are now floating somewhere in the South Seas, hoping to be rescued by a passing boat. The hot sun and constant rocking of their bamboo raft is starting to take its toll on Gilligan. I’m flipping my lid, I tell you.

Everywhere I look, it’s water, water, water!

It’s an order.

Well, I’m sick of orders, and I’m sick of the sun and the wind and the spray and the salt! What are you talking about?

We’ve only been going 20 minutes.

Gee, is that all?

Now sit down there and start paddling.

It’s like a land, it’s like a ship, no wind, nothing.

Thanks for watching! By the way, where are those tropical lays the girls made for us?

I had a snack.

Gilligan, will you stop talking about food? Okay, Skipper. I wish I had something to drink, like a hamburger or french fries.

Hey, I wish for something to drink, and there’s a bottle, maybe it’s soda. Maybe it’s a bottle of beer. There’s something in it.

Yeah, the note.

What is it?

We are marooned on a desert island. They spelled maroon wrong. Let me see that.

Gilligan, this is the note that you wrote. Yeah, I don’t know how to spell maroon.

Bye We haven’t got much raft left, but we’ll get where we’re going. We’ve got a good current behind us.

Yep, Skipper, from here on, it looks like smooth sailing.

Thank Skipper, do you think we should abandon ship?

The Skipper and Gilligan barely make it through the storm in their severely damaged raft, and despite their attempt to reach the shipping lane in hopes for rescue, the powerful storm forced them to wash up on a beach. They think they landed on another island, but they actually ended up back on the same island that they left from.

I wonder where we are.

We must have traveled hundreds of miles. First thing we got to do is build a fire. Oh, yeah.

Right, Skipper.

I got the matches right here.

Smoke from the Skipper and Gilligan’s Fire starts to rise high in the air and can be seen from all around the island. Marianne, who was on the other side of the island, notices some smoke from the fire.

Professor, Ginger, oh, look!

Oh, there’s smoke on the other side of the island.

Girls, I’m afraid we may be in for some trouble. There’s a chance a marubi may have returned to this island. Those head hunters?

Oh golly, Professor, what do we do? The first thing we ought to do is hide our heads. Put your girls to gather up some of these conch shell and meet me at the clearing.

At the clearing. I’m gonna warn the howls about this. Marianne isn’t the only one who sees the smoke from the skipper and Gilligan’s fire.

While setting up camp, Tiki Brian also sees the smoke.

But we have to be very careful. Many of these uncharted islands are home of the savage marubi headhunters. Let’s head over there to the other side of the island and check this out.

As Tiki Brian and his friends are making their way over from the other side of the island, the scene changes and the professor from the SS Minnow interrupts the Howls golf game to inform them that the savage Marubi headhunters may be nearby.

Oh, dash it all, lovey, I’ve three-putted again. Well, I think you’re doing very well, dear, considering you’re using a clam shell on a bamboo stick for a putter. Not to mention, avocado fit for a ball.

Here, I’ll try it again.

Mr. Howell.

But Mr. Howell. Shh, Professor, Mr. Howell is putting. I know, but I’ve got important news.

Not while I’m putting.

But Mr. Howell, I believe the Marubi may be here. I don’t care who’s here, they are not playing through. Listen, I believe the Marubi are those nasty headhunters the Professor told us about.

I think it’s advisable we prepare a defense.

Well, as I always say, a good defense is a strong offense. Wipe the buzzards out before they can attack us. Yes, but how?

Simple, first we blow up their bridge.

Mr. Howell, I don’t even know if they have a bridge. Those crafty devils, they’ve outsmarted us already.

What’s that, the conch shells? Oh, good, good. Now, these shells will be our warning system.

If you run into danger, you just blow into them like this.

Now, let’s all try it just to make sure.

As the castaways are practicing blowing into conch shells, the sound from the shells can be heard by everyone on the island, including the skipper, Gilligan, Tiki Brian and his friends.

What’s that?

Oh, no. We’d better camouflage ourselves.

The skipper and Gilligan decide to camouflage themselves from the apparent Morubi headhunters. Gilligan slips a hollowed out tree trunk over his body while the skipper surrounds himself with lots of branches and leaves in order to make himself appear like a large bush.

Stop that, Gilligan. This is no laughing matter. Hold still, Gilligan.

I’m sure this island doesn’t have any termites. At least we’ll be safe like this so we can scout around and see what’s what.

Yeah.

Skipper, I think you’ve been my roots too long.

Never mind.

Just take short steps like this. How do I look?

Like a fat bush.

When I want your opinion, I’ll ask for it. You just asked for it. Oh, shut up!

Remember now, if there’s any danger, just stand still and you’re a tree.

As the Skipper and Gilligan begin to roam the island in their jungle attire, they are soon spotted by the other castaways.

What? That tree over there moved. The tree ran away.

It is the Merubi.

They often disguise themselves. We better warn the others. Skipper, they’re going to attack any minute.

I’m getting out of this tree. Now is no time to panic, Gilligan. It’s as good a time as any.

Hold up, everyone.

Listen.

It’s coming from up ahead.

Let’s head towards the sound.

We are definitely not alone on this island.

Hurry, friends.

Let’s check this out.

Tiki Brian and his friends finally arrived to where the smoke and conch shell sounds were coming from, and they are shocked by what they see. Captain, look, I don’t believe it.

It’s the castaways of the SS Minnow.

You’re right, Tiki Brian, it’s Mr. and Mrs. Howe, the Professor, Ginger, and Mary Anne. But where’s the Skipper and Gilligan? Oh my, look, the Skipper and Gilligan are over in the jungle, disguised as a tree and a bush.

And it looks like the other castaways are getting ready to ambush them.

Do the castaways unknowingly ambush the skipper and Gilligan? Will Tiki Brian and his friends be the only ones to surprise the castaways? Will Gilligan inadvertently plunder the rescue efforts that could get them off the island?

Find out next time on Show 24 of the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast.

We’ll see you all next time.
