Mahalo.

Is everyone ready to travel back in time to Exotic Tiki Island? I’ve received several requests to take another hot air balloon ride to the island, so today we’ll be doing just that. The balloon is filled with gas and is ready for launching.

Let’s climb aboard and prepare for our flight. As everyone’s boarding the balloon basket, I would like to say mahalo to a few listeners who have sent in donations over the past month to help me out with the expenses of keeping the show going. Big mahalos go out to Charlene Hall, Jim Jensen, and of course, Michael Tompkins and Alan Adler for their recurring donations.

Mahalos go out to all of you for your generous donations. It really means a lot to receive support from the listeners. Mahalo.

Okay, Captain Scotty B. We’re all on board and we’re ready to go.

Okay, friends, we’re ready for liftoff. Hang on to your Fez hats, grass skirts, and tiki drinks as we send up, up, and away.

Hey, everyone, look up ahead. I can see Exotic Tiki Island. What an awesome view from up here.

The weather is perfect for another fantastic adventure to the island.

Hang on, friends. I’m going to land the balloon right on the main beach. Here we go.

Captain, that was a perfect landing. Mahalo.

Welcome, connies and wahinis, to the main beach on Exotic Tiki Island. Let’s make our favorite cocktails and prepare for our adventure and explore the jungle path that leads up to VooDoo Peak. Is everyone ready?

Okay, off we go.

See Hold up, everyone. I hear something up ahead. I hope it’s not those angry headhunters.

Oh, wait, it’s Shrunken Head Ned, the all-knowing witch doctor. Hey, why don’t you walk up to the witch doctor and let Shrunken Head Ned tell you what’s wrong? Go ahead, he won’t bite.

Hello and welcome. Please place your hand in mine and breathe in deeply. I said breathe in deeply.

Look, if you’re not going to, what’s that, you were breathing in deeply? Oh, oh my word, this is terrible. My advice is, of course, don’t buy any green bananas.

You probably won’t be around to enjoy them. And of course, don’t take the Jungle Cruise ride. Or those corny jokes could kill you.

Or maybe not. Of course, I’ve taken the Jungle Cruise ride hundreds of times. And of course, my body is in perfect shape.

If I could just find the bloody thing. You haven’t seen my body, have you? Of course, anyway, until you reach civilization, take the advice tendered below.

And thank you so much for patronizing Shrunk in Bed, the Jungle’s only self-service witch doctor. Well, another quarter here.

Let’s continue our adventure and head up to VooDoo Peak.

Hold up, everyone, I see something up ahead. There’s something small sticking out from the sand over near the water. It looks like, wait, it is.

What is it, Tiki Brian?

It’s an old vintage radio. How did that get there? By the looks of it, it’s in pretty rough shape.

I wonder if it works. Let’s try it.

Hmm, I just can’t get it to work. Captain, maybe you can look at it. I know you’re great at fixing stuff.

Okay, I think that may do it. Let’s try it now.

Great job, Captain. Wow, listen, it’s an old South Seas radio show. I think we should relax here for a bit and enjoy the radio.

I hope all of you don’t mind listening with us.

Hawaii Calls, from Hawaii’s sunny shore onto the Great Banyan Tree at the Moana Hotel, facing the famed beach of Waikiki, we send the music of the islands.

And visitors by the hundreds are joined with our own townspeople and Hawaiians from neighboring islands to join us as our music goes to the mainland. We say, Aloha as Hawaii calls.

Now, your host of Waikiki, Webly Edwards, this being the last day of the year 1949, the time when it’s the tradition to say Happy New Year, let’s say it as it’s said in Hawaii.

Sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite cocktail while listening to WETI Radio, a tropical paradise for your ears.

Well, some of our Mainland friends have reminded us that the steel guitar originated here with the Hawaiians a long ago. They suggest some steel guitar music by itself once in a while, and that’s a good idea.

We’re listening to Vintage Hawaiian Exotica and Island-related music on WETI Radio.

Thanks for watching! This just in. A Jungle Cruise skipper reports spotting the Lost Safari near the African Veldt.

As you may recall, this safari has remained missing longer, yet had more sightings than any other in history. Locally, aeroplane pilots are cautioned about landing in settlers’ field. Recent rains have created rather large bogs, which have attracted the attention of local water buffalo.

Pilots should carefully review conditions before either taking off or landing. These same rains have caused Schweizer Falls to run at 150% of normal, resulting in dangerous currents on nearby waterways. All skippers are advised to proceed with caution.

The Northeastern District is reporting some unusual activities at the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. The governor’s troops have been dispatched to the area. We will provide further information as it becomes available.

Also in the news, an entire Jungle Cruise tour group has disappeared in the Riverfront region. Authorities are trying to determine their exact whereabouts. It is the fourth reported incident involving the Jungle Cruise this month.

In the Lake District, a group of hunters claims that all of their supplies, equipment and.

African drums are talking.

On and on into the night, boom the drums, speaking of voodoo, witchcraft, mystery and menace. Their rhythmic beat breaks through walls of silence to bring you a story of Africa. Africa, Africa, that land where anything can happen.

When Captain James Cook discovered Hawaii about 170 years ago, the Native people greeted him with demonstrations of astonishment and delight, very much the same as they greet us today, in keeping with the ancient custom of welcoming visitors.

It doesn’t take long to feel the romantic spirit of Hawaii when thousands of fragrant leis are brought on board and generously distributed among the passengers. Nowhere in the world is there a more colorful custom than this one, where the floral lei becomes a poetic symbol of welcome and farewell.

One thing you must do here in Hawaii, along with riding a surfboard or paddling an outrigger canoe, or learning the hula, or to play the ukulele, is to eat some poi, P-O-I, at the feast we call the luau. How many of you here in Waikiki have tried out eating poi?

Well, did you like it?

Well, it takes a little adjusting, all right.

And tricks in eating it with the finger. One finger, two finger, three finger poi, depending on how thick it is.

Aloha, this is WETI Radio bringing you the news from the South Seas.

The unexpected onslaught of visitors has created a shortage of elephants and automobiles throughout the region. On a more pragmatic note, Matty’s Boatyard announces that they have just received their shipment of mechanical and motorized parts. Those who had placed orders should contact Mr. Matty.

The South Seas. Enchanted archipelagos of Eden. From earliest times, the islands of illusion.

To the first explorers, like Captain Cook, the South Seas represented a challenging quest for the unknown. To the missionaries who followed, they were a hunting ground for souls. To artists such as Paul Gauguin, the South Seas meant one vast painter’s palette of beauty and colour.

To writers like Melville, Conrad and Stevenson, they were a living source book, teeming with romantic adventure.

Captain, this radio is amazing. It’s picking up a station that hasn’t been on the air for many years. How is that possible?

I’m not really sure. I think we stumbled upon another magic object.

I agree, Captain. I’ll keep it right next to our other magic object we discovered during our adventures here on Exotic Tiki Island, the green jeweled skull.

Sounds like a plan. And just think, we’ll be able to listen to WETI radio and classic Hawaiian music from the South Seas any time we please.

I’m liking that. Well, we’ve been here all day enjoying this wonderful music, and unfortunately, I’ve let the time get away from us. It’s very easy to do here on Exotic Tiki Island.

And so it’s getting pretty late, so we better head to the main beach and prepare for our balloon ride home. Don’t worry, friends. I’ll make sure we visit Voodoo Peak very soon.

But for now, it’s off to the main beach we go. This way, my friends, this way.

We are now on the main beach, and Captain Skydee B is ready to launch the hot air balloon. Sadly, it’s time to go home. Climb aboard and prepare for liftoff.

I wanna thank all of you for visiting the island with us today. I hope you enjoyed the music as much as we did. And don’t forget to follow the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast on Facebook to keep up to date with the latest fun and adventures of Exotic Tiki Island.
