Mahalo to all of you for your support.
It’s nice to see how many of you out there that enjoy this music as much as I do.
Mahalo.
All right, I think everyone is here and ready to go. Let’s board our plane and prepare for our adventure. Captain Scotty B will be at the controls during takeoff, and then he’ll be turning things over to our newest captain in training during our landing.
Now, don’t be alarmed. Captain Scotty B isn’t leaving us. He’s just training a new captain for some future adventures.
So with that being said, let’s head to Exotic Tiki Island.
Aloha, ladies and gentlemen.
Welcome aboard Exotic Tiki Island Airlines. Our captains have turned on the drinking sign, so prepare your favorite Tiki cocktails, sit back and relax as we fly you to Exotic Tiki Island. Aloha, passengers.
This is Captain Scotty B. I hope everyone’s ready for our adventures to the island.
We’ve just been cleared for takeoff, so sit back, relax and enjoy the flight. Also sitting beside me up here in the cockpit is our captain in training, Mr. Captain Lush.
Aloha, everybody.
As part of his training, I’ll be passing the controls over to him during our final approach to the island. In the meantime, enjoy your flight and we’ll be in paradise before you know it.
Wahinis and Coneys, please place your seats in their upright positions.
Restrain from drinking your cocktails and prepare for our final approach to exotic Tiki Island. Captain Lush, the cabin is prepared for landing.
Phew, we surprisingly made it to the main beach on Exotic Tiki Island. Captain Scotty B, you might want to do more training with Captain Lush before letting him fly again.
Again.
Welcome, Coneys and Wahineys to the Main Beach on Exotic Tiki Island. The weather is a perfect 79 degrees with a calm, warm trade wind blowing in from the South Pacific.
My friends, you have reached paradise.
Let’s let the music play and our adventure begin.
Bye Wonderful music for a wonderful day here on the island.
What do you say we hike up to Grandpa Otto’s Grotto and pay him a visit? He always likes meeting new Tiki friends and loves to play some vintage Hawaiian music on his Victrola for his guests.
Let’s head up there now by walking through the Jungle Trail. Let’s go!
We now break for these important messages.

Hawaiians are a friendly people, and this flower garland of theirs is a kind of symbol, a greeting when you come, and when you go, a remembrance to call you back to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and to these enchanted Tropic Isles.
Aloha, and welcome back to the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast.
Another one of my favorite places to visit on the island is Grandpa Otto’s Grotto.
He’s a long time local resident on the island and is loved by everyone. Grandpa Otto has a wonderful vintage Hawaiian record collection that he likes to play on his old Victrola when visitors stop by.
Let’s pay him a visit and see if he’s up to sharing some of his vintage Hawaiian musical treasures. Here we go.
Who is it? Hey, Grandpa Otto, it’s Tiki Brian. I have some Tiki friends with me.
May we come in? Sure. I was just cranking up the old Victrola so I could hear some of these vintage Hawaiian records I just bought at the local antique store.
Would you and your Tiki friends like to hear them?
You bet, Grandpa Otto. It’s always a pleasure to hear those great Hawaiian songs from way back in the day. Okay, I’ve got the Victrola all cranked up and ready to go.
Why don’t you all have a seat and relax? Enjoy.
The composer, strolling along one of the beaches in Hawaii, spied a soldier sitting in the shade of coca palms. He appeared to be admiring the beautiful scenery, but in reality, he was enjoying the pleasure of letter writing. In the conversation that followed, he divulged that he was writing to a special one whom he addressed as Lovely You.
Thus was suggested the title of our song, Lovely You.
The song Uhe-uhene is the Hawaiian Shouting Song. When the native cowboy lassoes a wild steer, he expresses his joy with that significant shout, Yee-haw! In this selection, the cowboy from Hu’uhue relates his story, and it seems everything is coming his way.
Lucky boy!
We’u henne la.
This song admonishes, Cherish Our Love, and the title is Ma Lama, Pula Ma, He Eat For You.
It says that love is the precious gift that our hearts know and should appreciate. Gloomy days come accompanied by doubt, suspicion and disappointment, but love should reign supreme. That is the message of the song.
Time . E-ah, e-ah, e-ah.
Mahalo, Grandpa Otto, for sharing your music with us. But we’ve gotta get going.
There’s a live show tonight at the Hurricane Hut Lounge, and we definitely don’t wanna miss it.
We’ll see you soon, Grandpa. Aloha!
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your visit on Exotic Tiki Island.
Welcome to the Hurricane Hut Lounge. This lounge has played host to some of the best Hawaiian and Exotica acts around. And tonight, there’s no exception, because getting ready to perform live on stage in just a few minutes is the Alika Lyman Group.
Now, for those of you who don’t know this, Alika Lyman is the great nephew of Arthur Lyman.
And tonight, the Alika Lyman Group will be performing some selections off their new album entitled, Lays of Jazz, Volume 2.
Why don’t we go inside, head over to the bar, and refill our tiki mugs and head to the back of the lounge where the show is about to begin. Aloha, Wahinis and Connies.
Welcome to the Hurricane Hut Lounge. Tonight, we are very excited to introduce you to the incredible Exotica sounds of the Alika Lyman Group.
They’re here tonight to perform some songs off their new album called Lays of Jazz, Volume 2. And now, without further ado, I’m going to turn the mic over to Digitiki, one of the members of the Alika Lyman Group.
Mahalo, everyone, for coming out this evening to the Hurricane Hut Lounge. As the announcer said, I’m your host, Digitiki, coming to you direct this time from Exotic Tiki Island. Thank you.
Well, you know, it’s nice to get the chance to introduce this band, because I’m in the band with this next artist. I know a lot of you know me from my podcast show, The Quiet Village, but I’m also a musician, too, and I got the chance to work with this guy. He is a really great musician, great guy, and the great nephew of one of my favorite artists.
I’m talking, of course, on the guitar, Mr. Alika Lyman. All right, thank you, thank you. All right, we’re going to have a lot of fun next.
We’re going to play some tunes off our new album, Lays of Jazz, Volume 2. All right, everybody, get ready to swing. Here we go.
It is swing time in Honolulu.
Oh, mahalo, thank you very much. Thank you, thank you. Thank you, really appreciate that.
Thought you might like that song. All right. We’re gonna do another tune off our album next.
We’re gonna actually bring it down just a bit and do an original tune and give you some serious exotica. This one is written by the man himself, Mr. Alika Lyman on guitar.
Thank you. This is one of his tunes and it’s a beautiful song. I think you’re really gonna dig it.
It’s called Kawai Rose.
Oh, thank you, thank you very much. Mahalo. All right, wow, what a crowd.
All right, we’re gonna do one more off our album here. We’re gonna go from the jungle, the lost in paradise kind of exotic. And now we’re gonna go back to a song that you guys probably are gonna recognize right off the bat.
So I’m not gonna tell you what it is, but I think you guys are really, really gonna dig this one. Here we go.
Oh, thank you, thank you, mahalo. I’m sure you guys recognize that was the theme from Bewitched. Yeah, I know.
Some of you guys are probably asking, well, that’s not Tiki, but you’re right, it’s not Tiki. But you know, those of you who, who out there collects Arthur Lyman records? Because he has a lot of records.
Yes, a lot of you guys collect Arthur Lyman records. And I’m sure you know that he put a lot of pop tunes on there. There’s even one, he put an album, he put 76 trombones, believe it or not, Arthur Lyman doing 76 trombones.
So we decided on this record, we’re going to put on a tune from that era that would have been around when he was in his heyday, but one he didn’t get a chance to do. So we thought, what, what would be a cool one? Of course, Gilligan’s Island, yeah.
Yes, yes, you guys are nodding your head, yes, Gilligan’s Island. But, you know, we were thinking of some cool theme songs and this one came up, theme from Bewitched, so we kind of jazzed it up for you guys. So thank you, hope you enjoyed that one.
Yeah, thank you. All right, I want to take a moment to introduce the band. Yes, all right.
On the percussion, the one, the only, Mr. Nelson Ortiz.
On the drums, we have the one, the only, multi-talented and dexterous, Mark Gus Gusick. Thanks.
On the base, the man with the big bottom. Yes, of course, Justin Grinnell on upper.
And I’m yours truly, Mark Riddle, aka Digitiki, on The Vibes. Thank you.
And of course, the one, the only, one of the most talented guys I’ve had the opportunity to perform with and record with. All the way from Honolulu, Mr. Alika Lyman on guitar.
Thank you, we are the Alika Lyman Group. I want to give a big, big thank you to Exotic Tiki Island for letting us be here at the Hurricane Hut Lounge. We are really happy to be here.
And once again, I want to tell you all, since I’ve got the mic, I want to tell you all, be sure and listen to the Quiet Village Podcast on digitiki.com. I want to thank you guys for letting us be here. Thanks everyone at Exotic Tiki Island.
It is wonderful to be here on this island. If you guys want to check out the album, it’s Lays of Jazz, Volume 2. It’s available for download on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and you can buy it, the CD, from digitiki.com.
And for those of you who want a little bit of Latin, be sure and check out my twin brother, Marty Lush, going to be performing with his Mambo Combo October at Mod Palm Springs. All right. Mahalo, everyone.
That was amazing.
There you have it, friends. The incredible sounds of the Alika Lyman Group playing some selections off their new album, Lays of Jazz, Volume 2.
Hey, look, there’s Digitiki walking over to the bar.
Let’s grab his attention and say aloha. Aloha, Digitiki.
Ah ha, mahalo, Brian. How’s it going?
I’m doing fantastic. You guys really sounded awesome tonight on stage.
All of us really enjoyed your music.
I’m so glad you decided to come to the island and perform.
It was a pleasure. Thank you, Brian. Mahalo for having us.
I can tell from the crowd’s reaction here that you’ve got a lot of devoted, exotic music lovers here. A lot of listeners in the lounge tonight. That is really cool.
I’m happy to see that. Oh, you’re so right, Digitiki.
I’m very happy to see that too.
With each new episode, we have more listeners making their way to Exotic Tiki Island, and that’s just fantastic.
Hey, I’ll tell you what.
I’d like to buy you a drink.
Now, let’s see.
Your favorite is, of course, a Mai Tai, am I correct?
Yes, it is. Mahalo, Tiki Brian. No problem, my friend.
Bartender, a round of Mai Tais for my friend Digitiki and the rest of us. If I could have everyone’s attention, I’d like to propose a toast to Digitiki and the rest of the Alika Lyman Group.
Digitiki, I’d like to say mahalo to you and the rest of the group for taking the time to visit the Hurricane Hut Lounge here on Exotic Tiki Island. It was a real pleasure to hear you perform live on stage.
You are always welcome to come back to the island any time in the future.
Thanks, Brian. It is a real pleasure to be here. We had a lot of fun.
Hopefully, we’ll come back and do some more tunes live soon.
Please do, DigiTiki.
All right, everyone, hold them up high. Cheers, everyone. All right.
