Aloha, and welcome to episode 35 of the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast. I’m your host, Tiki Brian, and I’m very excited to share with you a very special edition of the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast. This special episode is brought to you by an Atlanta-based Tiki fan, Dr. Ford Vox.
Mahalo, Ford, for your very kind patronage and support for backing this special 35th episode.
This special episode includes some very well-known guests that will visit Exotic Tiki Island. This group of kids and their dog have entertained generations of fans with their superior mystery-solving skills combined with their playful shenanigans. I’m talking about none other than Scooby Doo and the gang.
And you might be thinking, how is Scooby Doo related to Tiki? Well, you’re about to find out. So make your favorite Tiki cocktail, sit back in your hammocks, relax, and get ready for this very special 35th episode of the Exotic Tiki Island podcast.
As Scooby Doo and the rest of the gang embark on the forbidden ground of Mono Tiki Tia here on Exotic Tiki Island.
The scene begins with Scooby Doo and Shaggy sitting on the main beach, enjoying a luau feast with their tour guide, Mr. Sims, along with some exotic Tiki Island natives.
Like, Hawaii is the place for vacation.
And food? Yeah, food. This tour you’ve taken us on is the greatest, Mr. Sims.
Ah, and that is so far.
So far?
Sure.
Like visiting that ancient village of a lost tribe tomorrow leaves me cold. And besides, there isn’t going to be a luau. But Shaggy, that isn’t part of my tour.
I know. The rest of the gang thought it up. Oh no, you must not go there.
That ancient village is haunted.
Ha, ha, ha, haunted?
Not even I would go there. And then neither will we, right Scoob? Right, right.
Smart thinking. Now forget all about ghosts and have a good time.
Yeah, yeah.
While Scooby and Shaggy are enjoying the luau on the main beach, they start to hear the sound of tiki drums playing behind them. They turn around to take a look and are shocked to see that the tiki drums are sounding, but no one is playing them.
Shortly after the Jungle Drums stop playing, a flash of light appears with green glowing smoke. When the smoke clears, a ghostly witch doctor wearing a scary tiki mask stands in front of them.
Scooby Doo! Where are you? Hey!
Where is everybody?
Mr. Sims?
Scooby!
Oh, God! Everyone’s been…
Shaggy can’t believe what just happened. He finds himself all alone on the main beach, wondering where everyone has gone. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang are enjoying their vacation over at the Pineapple Parlor.
Mr. 47 Luau’s in a row. I don’t see how Shaggy and Scoob could possibly handle another one. You know those two, always hungry.
Besides, they’re probably so stuffed they can’t move.
Ghost drums! What?
Shaggy, get a hold of yourself.
Where’s Mr. Sims and Scooby Doo?
The natives, Mr. Sims and Scooby Doo, vanished, poof! Poof?
I think you’re full of poi, but let’s go find them.
Shaggy and the rest of the gang set out to find Scooby Doo, Mr. Sims and the Natives. They hop into their mystery machine and pull up to the main beach where everyone has gone missing. So, where is everybody?
I’ve got an idea. Let’s ask that old man. What old man?
He’s gone. See any clues? No, but I hear one.
The gang has escaped the scary sounds of the Ghost Drums and continues to look for Scooby Doo on the main beach, where he went missing. Suddenly, Scooby Doo comes out from behind the bush that he was hiding behind, where the Ghost Drums and the Witch Doctor first made their appearance. Scooby Doo, where were you?
I’m here. Hiding?
You mean scary? Is this any way to greet your buddies?
Well, so much for Scooby’s banishing act.
Now let’s find Mr. Sims. Let’s don’t.
Shame on you two. After all, he’s our host. And he took us to 47 luau’s.
And there might not be a 48.
Another luau?
Let’s go.
Scooby Doo and the gang continue to look for clues and try to find out what has happened to Mr. Sims.
Hold it! First ghosts now litterbugs.
A newspaper article written by John Sims.
His article tells about villagers being terrorized by a ghostly legend come to life. Mano Tiki Tia. Now he’s investigating to see if the ghosts have really come back to haunt the island.
Looks like we’ve got another mystery on our hands. And the first thing to do is find Mr. Sims. And I bet he’s in that ancient village.
That’s a perfect place for ghosts. Oh, who wants to find an old haunted village? No.
Oh yes you do.
Like no way. Besides, those tracks stop at the jungle.
We can follow them in the jungle. Thanks to Scooby’s keen tracking nose. Too bad, this Scooby snack smells delicious.
A Scooby snack?
Thank . Scooby Doo and the gang stumble upon Mano Tiki Tia, a very tall Tiki statue that stands at the entrance of the haunted village.
Wow, now where is this? Hey, give a look up, maybe it’s a clue.
Well, thanks to Shag and Scooby, we found the haunted village. It looks too creepy to be real.
Like it’s real, all right.
As the gang explores the haunted village, Mano Tikitia comes alive and begins to growl and move towards Scooby and the gang. The weird thing is, is that Mano Tikitia’s legs aren’t moving. He appears to be a mechanical machine with rolling wheels.
Could this be a clue? Let’s continue with the story and find out. Come on, Scoob, like you’re not really afraid of ghosts, are you?
Mike, who said that?
Well, that answers that!
Thanks, Velma, like in another moment, that freaky Tiki would have made poi out of this boy.
But old, terrible Tiki’s after us. Not only him, but also the witch doctor. Right, Scoob, the witch doctor.
But how did you know?
Hey, the ones the world should know, A thousand years ago.
At least for now, the gang has succeeded in ditching Mano Tikitia and The Witch Doctor. They start finding more clues that will eventually blow this mystery wide open. Let’s take a quick commercial break, and we’ll be right back to continue the story with Scooby Doo and a gang here on Exotic Tiki Island.

Welcome back to the podcast. Let’s continue our story with Scooby Doo and a gang as they continue to find more clues in the haunted village. Oh, my feet are killing me.
It’s a good thing we slipped the witch doctor or that was Gnarl that would be getting killed.
Like I’m too wack to walk.
What did you see?
Something on that table.
Oyster shells and pearls. This is a real clue. You’re right.
Now all we have to do is find everybody and solve the mystery of Manotiki-Tiya.
Whoa!
Hey! An airplane! Like it must have crashed here years ago.
I don’t think so. What about all those vines? Plastic and definitely a clue.
Ha ha ha. It’s a skinny spooky.
No, Shag. It’s not real.
Look at your foot. See? It’s a trip wire.
Yeah, it sure tripped me. Yes, but it also operated that fake skeleton. And look what Scooby found.
A tape recorder that made the skeleton laugh. Like I sure fell for that trick. Naturally.
With all the clues we’ve found so far, the mystery is starting to piece together. Except we still haven’t found Mr. Sims.
Wonder where they go?
The gang continues to follow the mysterious footprints, and they eventually lead them to the mysterious man. When the mysterious man realizes that the gang has found him, he begins to make his escape by diving into the lagoon and disappear under the water. But that doesn’t stop Scooby Doo and the gang.
They stay hot on his trail and dive into the lagoon after him. And the chase for the mysterious man continues under the water.
Thank you.
Thank The gang’s underwater chase eventually ends with them surfacing to an underground tavern.
A secret tavern. That is the way out, I hope.
Yeah, but where’d the old man go? Who is that old man?
Just then, the witch doctor and Mano Tikitia show up and begin to chase the gang.
We’re trapped! Like what we do! I say we get outta here!
Brilliant!
Thanks for watching!
As the gang is running from the Witch Doctor and Mano Tikitia, Scooby trips and falls into a swampy area of the lagoon and ends up covered in wet green leaves and twigs. When he emerges from the swamp, he looks like some sort of a jungle creature. When the Witch Doctor sees Scooby, he runs away in fear of him.
It’s sure strange the Witch Doctor could get shook up by a jungle creature.
Right, that’s my plan, to shake him up a lot.
What’s the action?
First, we’ve got to get that trick amusement park mirror from the mystery machine. Now we hide it in the jungle, like this. Next, Scooby and Shaggy play ghost drums to lure the Witch Doctor here.
Right, like we’re experts. Then when the Witch Doctor sees his image in the mirror, he runs down the trail and plops right into the giant pit we covered with palm leaves.
And bingo, we capture the Witch Doctor and solve the mystery.
Scooby and Shaggy put their plan in motion and begin to play the tiki drums to attract the witch doctor.
What are you crying about?
Well, what do you know? We got him.
Now for the unmasking.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. John Sims. But what is a man-o-tiki-tea? See, Shaggy, it’s like a parade float operated by Mr. Sims’ henchmen.
Now all the clues add up. Sims engineered this hoax. Their plan was to scare the fishing villagers away so they could poach their pearl beds.
Right, Mr. Sims? I’m not talking.
Then he’d come here to the haunted village because nobody would dare to follow ghosts. But he was at the luau with us.
Perhaps I can answer that. Lieutenant Tamoro, Hawaii Police Department. I was on the trail of these pearl poachers for a long time.
But thanks to you kids, and you too, Scooby Doo, things got wrapped up in a hurry. Oh, well, we still have one more day of our vacation left. And that day will be on me.
Well, it looks like Scooby Doo and the gang solved another mystery. I think they deserve to enjoy the rest of their stay here on exotic Tiki Island. Aloha, gang.
All of you did a wonderful job of solving the mystery of Mano Tiki Tia. Mahalo for bringing peace back to our island. Hey, Scooby, how would you like a Scooby snack?
