Aloha, and welcome to another episode of the Exotic Tiki Island podcast. I’m your host, Tiki Brian, and I hope all of you are ready for another wonderful adventure to the one and only Exotic Tiki Island, as I play vintage Hawaiian, exotica, and tiki tunes from my personal vinyl and digital collection. Before we get started, I wanted to send out some big mahalos to listeners who sent in some donations over the past month to help me pay the expensive cost of keeping this podcast and ETI radio going.

Big mahalos go out to Charlene Hall, Mike Tompkins, Kelly and Paul from Nashville, Bradley Crago, Michelle Huff, Christine Warch, Andy Udelavis, Mary Beth Ferry and the rest of the Ferry family, Tony Galleon, Tom Fitzgerald, Tom Heldrith, Kona Norm, Rachel Patton, Kit Messick, Johns Hopkins and Tiki Chris and his girlfriend Tiki Sean along with Island J from islandj.com. Mahalo to all of you for sending in wonderful donations to help me pay the expensive cost of keeping the show going. And if any of the other listeners enjoy the show as much as they do, you can show your support and appreciation by buying me a Mai Tai by visiting the exotictikiisland.com website and click on the donation button to make a donation.

Any amount helps out a lot and it really does help me pay the cost of keeping this show going. Mahalo. For this special 48th episode of the podcast, we are going to travel to the island in Captain Nemo’s Nautilus submarine from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Captain SkyDB is going to help all of you board the Nautilus and then we’re going to hand over the controls of the sub to Captain Nemo and his crew.

Okay, wahinis and connies, watch your step and your head as you board the Nautilus. Once inside, please scoot all the way down, filling up the back of the submarine first. Watch your step, watch your step.

And ma’am, please watch your step. There’s plenty of room. We have a lot of Tiki friends going to the island for our 48th episode.

So please, everybody, scoot down and relax.

Okay, Captain, I think everyone’s on board and we’re ready to go.

All right, let me radio up to the control room and let Captain Nemo and his crew know that we’re ready to go to exotic Tiki Island. Captain Nemo, this is Captain Scotty B. The sub-observation level is secure and we’re ready to go when you are.

Very well. Among these coral reefs, you may see some of the strange inhabitants of this undersea world hiding among the seaweed and weird rock formations.

Other creatures are lurking in the depths of mysterious caves, favorite hiding places for octopus, lobster, and moray eels. With the use of our exterior sonar hydrophones, we can actually hear the fish talk.

Salvage operations ahead, sir. Divers to Port and Starboard. Take her down to 350 feet.

Use 10 degree down angle. Flood negative.

The graveyard of lost ships.

Take all the treasure that must lie in those ancient homes.

Satellite sub-crossing bouncer, proceed with caution, steer clear of mothership.

Sir, sonar shows polar ice cap, dead ahead. Very well. Continue on course to Paul.

Scraping icebergs, sir.

Uh-oh, a giant squid.

Giant squid have often been mistaken for sea serpents. Such reports have persisted for centuries. But of course they have no basis in fact.

Tall tales of ocean monsters should be classed this fiction. Along with the myth of mermaids. A pure flight of fancy, belonging to the realm of make believe.

Here a view into the distant past. The fabulous lost continent of Atlantis.

then your battle stations, standby for action.

Okay, Tiki Brian, the Nautilus is now docked on the main beach of the exotic Tiki Island.

That was an incredible ride to the island. Captain Nemo saw the Nautilus is simply awesome. I hope all of you enjoyed that as much as we did.

Welcome, wahinis and khanis, to the main beach on exotic Tiki Island. It’s another picture perfect day with a temperature of 78 degrees and a calm, cool, gentle trade wind blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. Friends, you are now in paradise.

So let’s begin our adventure and have Captain Scotty B make a Tiki drink for all of us to enjoy. Captain, what lovable liquid libation do you have for us for this adventure?

I have an exceptional drink to share with you today, Tiki friends. Today’s featured drink was suggested by one of our avid listeners. His name is Tiki Mon, and he suggested this wonderful drink recipe called the Missionary’s Downfall.

This is a classic cocktail by Don the Beach Climber. So gather around my Tiki bar as I prepare for you the Missionary Downfall. First, here’s the ingredients you’re gonna need to make this Missionary’s Downfall.

Keep in mind that these measurements yield two drinks. Half ounce of fresh lime juice, half ounce of peach brandy, one ounce of honey mix, one ounce of light rum, a quarter cup of diced fresh pineapple, quarter cup fresh mint leaves tightly packed, three quarter cup of crushed ice. The instructions are, put everything into a blender and blend at high speed for 20 seconds.

Pour into saucer shaped champagne glasses or cocktail glasses. Garnish with a tip of a mint sprig, three or four leaves on a short stem. Place in the center of the drink.

It serves two. It’s tasty and it’s minty. And enjoy.

Looks pretty tasty, Captain. Let me take a sip. Mm, very yummy.

And listeners, if you wanna make this tiki drink at your tiki bar, I invite you to visit the official exotictikiisland.com website and click on the tiki drinks and cocktails to view this recipe along with many others. All right, so here we are on exotictikiisland. The weather is perfect and we have our tiki drink in hand.

Let’s start our adventure and head over to the Aloha Beach. All of you are in for a nice treat because the local islanders have invited us to join them at the Aloha Beach for a hukilau to help celebrate the island’s heritage with great food and entertainment. Let’s head over to the Aloha Beach now by taking this jungle trail.

Now, stay close together and don’t veer off the path. We don’t want any of you to get lost and then found by the headhunters. This way friends, this way.

Look Captain, up ahead, it’s the Aloha Beach. It looks like we made it just in time for the beginning of the Hukilau.

Let’s refill our Tiki mugs with another Missionaries Downfall cocktail and make ourselves comfortable here on the Aloha Beach and enjoy the entertainment.

Now what we got here is an ancient lullaby about a beautiful island girl who is in love with a handsome island boy. You know they say that falling in love is wonderful and I ought to know. But these kids can’t make it legal because she ain’t even got two poker shells to string together, and his pop’s the king of the great Manitoupi.

The poor slob’s a prince.

Get it? Hit it!

You get what I’m saying?

And Papa King lays it right on the line. And when those drums start beating, little Princey almost has a heart attack. Which means, it’s a lovely day for roasting virgins.

By this time, sweet Leilani’s all dolled up for the shake and bake, and with the whole village watching, they shove her out on stage.

Here she is, boys.

And the little lady’s screaming bloody murder.

I won’t go. No I won’t.

No I won’t. No I won’t.

And the natives are drumming and chanting and doing what comes naturally. They’re trying to wake up the great god Mauna Loa by dancing their ritual fire dance.

Blow, Mauna Loa blow.

Of course, when the king hears this, he says, let’s call the whole thing off. And he don’t mean the wedding. Before you can say, pineapple princess, the two kids clinch the deal.

Papa declares a big holiday and they all sit down to dinner. Everything is wonderful. Wonderful!

That was fantastic. The food and drinks along with the entertainment were second to none. Well, friends, it’s getting late, and we need to begin our jungle trek back to the main beach and prepare for our ride home.

Let’s go, friends.

Tiki Brian, we’re approaching the main beach.

I see it, Captain. Friends, you know what that means. Sadly, it’s time to go back to the present day and time.

You’re not ready to go home? Well, I guess I can play one or two more songs for you if you really want me to. Tell you what, I just found an old wooden crate that washed up on the shore of the main beach last night.

When I opened it up, I found some old vintage Hawaiian records inside. As a special treat for you hanging around after the show, I’m going to play a few of them for you now. Enjoy, my friends.

Aloha, friends, see you soon.
