Aloha and welcome to the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast. This is show 9 and I’m your host and tour guide on this tropical excursion back in time to Exotic Tiki Island. I’m glad you decided to join me on this trip while I play vintage Hawaiian, Exotica and Island related music from my Vintage vinyl collection. In this show we’ll be visiting the Main Beach, and the Virgin Volcano where we will experience the local natives appease the volcano fire goddess with an exotica musical ritual rarely seen by outsiders. Aloha, and welcome to another episode of the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast. I’m Tiki Brian, and I’m your host and tour guide on this tropical excursion back in time to Exotic Tiki Island. I’m glad you decided to join me on this trip while I play vintage Hawaiian, exotica, and island-related music for my vintage vinyl collection.
In this show, we’ll be visiting the main beach and the Virgin Volcano where we will experience the local natives appease the volcano fire goddess with an exotica musical ritual rarely seen by the outsiders. And I’m sure we’ll have some unexpected surprises arise, too.
Before we depart, I would like to remind you that you can visit the Exotic Tiki Island anytime by going to the official website www.exotictikiisland.com and from there, you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes or an RSS feed, learn about the music and artists that are played on the show, get tiki drink recipes, you can also shop online at Tiki Brian’s online tiki store for actual vintage Hawaiian tiki products, and you can also follow us over on Facebook and Google+. Also, there’s some hidden surprises on the website that I’m not going to tell you about. You’ll have to click around and explore.
It’s all over on the official Exotic Tiki Island website located at www.exotictikiisland.com.
Attention, attention!
This is island based, call him Tiki Brian on the mainland. Tiki Brian, do you read me?
Over. Go ahead, island based. I can hear you, but you’re breaking up a bit.
Over.
I want to let the mainlanders know that we have been picking up some radio transmissions that are providing some wonderful entertainment for all of us here on Exotic Tiki Island. One of the transmissions seems to be coming from a Tiki bar that lives in your head. They go by the name of The Zen Tiki Lounge, a podcast hosted by four friends in their home Tiki bar.
Each week, Sunshine Tiki and the rest of the Zen Tiki Lounge crew start to show with a tasty cocktail recipe, exotic tunes, and plenty of shenanigans that make for an all-around fun time. It’s becoming a local favorite with everyone here on the island. You can find them by going to www.zentikilounge.com.
Copy that, island base. I’ve been hearing lots of positive feedback on the Zen Tiki Lounge Podcast here on the mainland, too. Over.
Roger that, Tiki Brian. That’s not the only transmission we are receiving. There is another frequency being transmitted that is actually a video feed, and it’s called the Velveteen Lounge Kitchen Podcast.
It’s an entertaining lifestyle show with its tongue planted firmly in its cheek. The Velveteen Lounge Kitchen celebrates all that is fun and kitchen-y about food, drink, and party planning. Everyone here on the island is excited to see each new video transmission.
You can visit the website to watch the show and to learn more about the Velveteen Lounge Kitchen, go to www.velveteenloungekitchen.com. Tiki Brian, make sure you post a link in your podcast player screen so that Tiki friends can visit the Velveteen Lounge Kitchen and the Zen Tiki Lounge. Over.
I copy that, Island Base. It’s already been posted. Over.
Great. This is Island Base, Captain Scotty B. Over and out.
Aloha, Island Base. I’m loading up the passengers and will be there soon. This is Tiki Brian.
Over and out.
Everyone is here and ready to travel back in time to Exotic Tiki Island, so climb aboard, everyone. Make sure you have your favorite cocktail. Mine’s a Mai Tai because we’re heading back in time to Exotic Tiki Island.
Here we go.
Aloha, connies and wahinis. Welcome to the Main Beach on Exotic Tiki Island. Let’s pour ourselves another cocktail and lie in these hammocks underneath the palm trees while listening to some South Seas musical treasures as you take in the warm, gentle trade wind breeze flowing off the Pacific Ocean.
My friends, you have reached paradise.
That was so relaxing, I almost fell asleep. I’m glad we had a chance to rest because it’s going to take most of the day to walk up to the Virgin Volcano and see the local natives perform their sacrificial ritual to appease the volcano fire goddess. Let’s break for these important messages, and we’ll be right back to continue our journey.
The Exotic Tiki Island Podcast will return after these important messages.
Cannon’s new Hawaiian striped towel is so pretty, you may want to wear it and dance.
If you want a towel like this, buy Breeze. Breeze is the powerful detergent with a new Cannon Hawaiian Striped Towel in every box. It’s almost like being in Hawaii.
Are you there, sir?
I am indeed, Webb, and I’m delighted with the opportunity to speak as the Governor of the new state of Hawaii to the people of our nation and to our neighbor nations of North America and other continents, and to our own people and friends around the world on this great program, Hawaii Calls. May I, on behalf of the people of Hawaii, express warm thanks and appreciation for the multitude of good wishes that have come to us from so many of you in so many places. To the Governors of all of the states and our friends in the national government, our sincerest thanks and good wishes.
To all of you everywhere, I say aloha. Aloha from the new state of Hawaii and its people. This is Governor William F.
Quinn speaking from Iolani Palace in Hawaii. I return you to Waikiki Beach and Hawaii Calls.
Exotic Tiki Island Podcast.
Welcome back to the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast, The Virgin Volcano. This intimidating, massive, and unforgiving natural opening in the island surface is home of the respected and feared fire goddess. The local natives believe that they can keep her from erupting by performing a monthly dance ritual to appease her and convince her not to cover their village with hot molten lava.
We are now going to travel up to the Virgin Volcano and experience this amazing event. Is everyone ready? Let’s follow the path through the dark, deep jungle and we should arrive at the foot of the Virgin Volcano by nightfall.
Stay close together, the jungle can have many unexpected surprises.
Thank you.
Listen, up ahead, I hear the local natives preparing for their dance ritual to appease the virgin volcano fire goddess. Let’s climb up on those rocks up ahead, that’ll give us a great view without being noticed by the natives.
Let’s go!
What a show! That was amazing! The natives have secured their safety for another month and are now returning back to the village to celebrate.
We should start heading back to the main beach and prepare for our trip back home. Let’s go. Stay right there, people.
The Exotic Tiki Island Podcast will return right after this important message. Hey, how about a nice Hawaiian punch?
And now Hawaiian Punch comes in Apple II.
Polynesian shows with the songs and dances of Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, and New Zealand are very popular with visitors. The lure of savage drums, the thrill of a Samoan fire knife dance, and the wicked Tahitian ortea are to many an important part of a visit to Hawaii. One of the most popular is the Kodak Hula Show at the Waikiki Shell.
Held several times during the week, there’s no admission, and the click of shutters on all those cameras almost sets its own rhythm. In its natural outdoor setting beneath the swaying coconut trees, it’s been a must for thousands of visitors for many years. Nestled under world famous Diamond Head, it’s only a quick stroll through Waikiki right behind the Honolulu Zoo.
We now return to Exotic Tiki Island. I would like to send out a huge mahalo to a couple of listeners, Tiki G and Brent. They both made a generous donation to the podcast.
Listener donations like theirs helped the podcast pay for all the fees associated with running the show, including hosting fees, server fees, and promoting the podcast, and also to buy more rare LPs to play on the show. Thank you both so much for your donation and I really appreciate it. And for those of you who listen to the show and would like to make a donation, you can visit the official website and click on the donation button.
Even a dollar donation can help out a lot. Mahalo.
Well people, it’s time to head back to the main beach and start getting ready to head back to the present day and time. So let’s start our journey back and I’ll catch up with you back on the beach.
We are now back on the main beach and our boat is ready to take us back to the present day and time. Let’s board and prepare for our trip back home. It’s been fun visiting Exotic Tiki Island, and we’ll return again very soon with more great music and adventures.
Thanks again for listening to the show, and don’t forget to visit my friends, Sunshine Tiki, and the rest of the ZTL crew over in the Zen Tiki Lounge, and Kelly and Paul over in the Velveteen Lounge Kitchen for more great adventures. I’ve posted links to their shows in the podcast notes. Until next time, this is Tiki Brian.
Aloha, it’s Tiki Brian. I invite all of you to visit the official Exotic Tiki Island website, where you can view my collection of Hawaiian, Exotica, and island-related music LPs that are played on this podcast. Each LP post includes track listings and additional artist info.
Go to www.exotictikiisland.com, and while you’re visiting, be sure to check out Tiki Brian’s online tiki shop. It’s packed full of actual vintage products, including Hawaiian and Exotica LPs, vintage tiki clothing, and pop tiki decor. For those of you listening to this podcast, I’m going to give you a discount code to use during checkout that will take 20% off your entire order.
