Show number 33. That, my friends, is a lot of shows.
Aloha, friends, and welcome to the Exotic Tiki Island Podcast. I’m your host, Tiki Brian, and I invite you to travel back in time to a paradise isle with swaying palm trees, cool, gentle ocean breezes, and golden sandy beaches. I’m talking about none other than Exotic Tiki Island.
Join me as I play vintage Hawaiian, exotica and island related music from my music collection.
Before we start our adventure, I’d like to send out some big mahalos to some listeners who were kind enough to send in a donation to help me with the expenses of keeping the show going. Mahalos go out to Kona Norm, Charlene Hall, Tom Duncan, James Beck, Kelly and Paul, Mike Tompkins, Alan Adler and Karen Sobel. Thank you for helping me offset the cost of keeping the show going.
And if any of you other listeners would like to make a donation, you can head over to the official ETI website and click on the donation button to make a donation. Any amount helps out a lot. Our website is www.exotictikiisland.com.
Mahalo.
This episode of the Exotic Tiki Island podcast is sponsored by our friends retroruthyshop.com. They offer custom retro apparel and also by Hotep Nephty over on cafepress.com forward slash Hotep Nephty. They offer a wide range of Tiki products.
You’ll hear more about our official sponsors later on in this show. All right, are you ready for our adventure? At the end of our last episode, Captain Scotty B was approaching us in his jungle cruise boat.
Let’s continue where we left off and start the show. Look, out in the river, it’s Captain Scotty B and he’s driving towards us in a jungle cruise boat. Tiki Brian, hold up!
Don’t him down to the main beach just yet.
I just received word over the radio that there’s an island after hours party happening this evening on the south side of the island. I thought it would be fun to go to the after hours party. Oh, I don’t know about that, Captain.
You must be talking about Pele’s Pleasure, an exotica after hours party. That’s where all the young islanders hang out. I don’t think our tiki friends can handle Pele’s Pleasure, although they do make the best zombie drink cocktail on the island.
But still, I think it’s best we just head back to the main beach. What do you think, friends?
Really? Are you sure you want to go? Hey, let’s go to the after hours party!
We can take my jungle cruise boat down the rivers of adventure to get to the party. Let me pull it up to the dock so everyone can board. That’s a good idea, Captain.
Okay, wahinis and conies, pay close attention. We have some very difficult boarding instructions. When the boat reaches the same speed as the dock, you get in.
It’s that simple. Have a seat, folks. Make room for everyone.
Welcome aboard. I’ll be your skipper for as long as you last on this boat down the rivers of adventure. We’ll be traveling down the rivers of adventure before reaching Pele’s Pleasure.
So please keep your nose, toes and elbows inside the boat at all times and remain seated. This is not a dancing cruise.
Okay, here we go.
Now, over to your left, we have a 500-pound Bengal Tiger. Now, I don’t want you to panic. Tigers can only jump 20 feet, and I have the boat about 15 feet away, so he’ll be jumping over your head, like many of my jokes.
Onward we go!
Thanks!
We are now approaching the ancient Indian elephant pool. Feel free to take some pictures, folks. These elephants are classy.
They always remember to wear their trunks. Whoa, look out! The elephant is loading up this trunk with water!
You people in the back of the boat, look out! You’re gonna get wet! You’re gonna get wet!
Ah, you’re gonna… Yeah, you’re not gonna get wet. Just a little dry humor.
Okay, here we go!
Okay, friends, up ahead, I see some gorillas that have taken over the campsite. Uh-oh, that gorilla’s got a gun. They’ve gone bananas.
Keep your eyes peeled. We’ve got to split. A little banana humor.
I find it appealing. It’s a whole bunch of fun. My apologies, I let my excitement slip away from me.
Now, just up ahead on the right is the famous Swyter Falls. We’re going to go over that later, I promise.
We are now approaching the 8th wonder of the world. I’m going to take us behind this waterfall. Check out this spectacular view of the backside of water.
It’s beautiful, I know. Around here, we call it O2H. Now, please, folks, do not try this at home.
All you’re going to do is end up hitting your head on the backside of the faucet. Don’t ask me how I know. Onward we go.
Bye No trip through the rivers of adventure is complete without stopping by to see Trader Sam, the shrunken head collector. There he is, up on the hill. He’s holding a couple of his shrunken heads in his hand.
You know, he’s our head salesman around these parts. Sadly, his business is shrinking. But fear not, he’s got a deal to offer to you.
Two of his heads for one of yours. Any takers? No, either way you slice it, you’re coming out ahead.
And two heads is better than one, I’m told. You know, I went to Trader Sam’s house for dinner the other night, and I said to Sam, you know, your wife makes a terrific stew. He said, I know, I’m really going to miss her.
Okay, let’s keep moving.
Thank We’re now approaching the most dangerous part of our journey, the entrance to Pele’s Pleasure. Hang on, friends, please keep your nose, toes and elbows inside the boat as I attempt to try to dock this thing. And now, folks, I’m going to leave you with one piece of advice.
It’s the same thing my parents told me on my 18th birthday. get your things and get out. The free ride is over.
Mahalo, Captain, for that wonderful ride through the rivers of adventure. Let’s give it up for Captain Scotty B.
